History
Drummond Distribution is proud of its distinguished history of service to the road transport industry dating back to the company’s formation in 1927.
From humble beginnings, the company was founded by Robert Drummond and initially provided local delivery services to the Coal and Quarrying industries.
During our early years we assisted in the construction of the A8 Ballieston to Corstorphine link road and started working for the West Lothian Foundry, delivering castings to the shipyards of Leith, Glasgow and Dundee. We also delivered Jute from Dundee to London and Hull.
Over the years we have served many distinguished companies, working with William Low of Dundee (now Tesco) for more than 30 years. We have also provided our delivery services to Scotts Porridge Oats, Berger Paints (now Crown), B.O.C, Energen Foods(now Ryvita), Bayne & Duckett Shoes, the CO-OP and Power Petroleum.
In the 1960s the firm expanded into Glasgow by acquiring a small company in Neilston thus allowing us to extend our delivery services to the greater Glasgow area.
As the firm developed during the 1970’s and 1980’s we extended our facilities in Armadale adding a depot extension, warehouse, garage and offices. In 1996 we moved into a purpose built 30,000 sq.ft. distribution depot.
Today the company is run by Robert Drummonds three sons Bert, Jack and Peter along with his grandson Robert Drummond employing over 100 people and operating 60 modern trucks, vans and artics.
